Brand Design
I am asked pretty often to explain brand vs. logo design. A logo is a mark that should be recognizable and unique. But a brand is so much more—a brand is everything else that brings your brand alive: color palette, illustration, photography style, patterning, fonts and typography, tone of voice…. Overall look and feel. The values of a brand are knitted into the fabric of the visual and emotional branding—it’s not just the physical features that create a brand but also the visceral reaction that consumers develop towards the company, service, or product.
Some questions that help to define brand language:
What are your core values?
What do you stand for?
What makes your product or service unique?
What is your unique selling point?
Who are your target customers?
What is your 5 yr / 10 yr plan?
Who are your direct and indirect competitors?
Brand Support
A brand “style guide” is a leave-behind artifact that enables and empowers clients to own their brand long after I’m involved. It provides guidance tailored to the needs of the client and can include design rules that cover things like: newsletter design, social media templates, business papers, marketing campaigns, and font usage. This artifact is a living, breathing document that not only helps the client but also future designers carry on consistent styles and patterns that represent the mission of the brand system.
Logo Design
Sure, I can design a logo, but remember it’s only a tiny part of what makes your brand unique, ownable, and memorable. A logo is a unique mark that represents the things you stand for. It can be type-based, illustration-based, modular, animated. The styles are limitless.
Social Media Design & Support
Often times clients need help to create a consistent set of templates that transform an Instagram feed, Facebook homepage, or newsletter. Social media is a huge marketplace for brand recognition and commerce, so it’s essential to consider it when refining a brand.
Multimedia Design
Multimedia is a great way to provide verve to a brand. An animated logo sequence can be used in the context of video title cards, social media, and website. Plus, it’s fun to design! Multimedia is also a great way to tell a brand story through videos, stop motion, and animated storytelling.
Website Design & Integration
The integration of branding into websites is a huge part of bringing the brand to life. Depending on functionality needs, I can recommend different strategies to host and build sites that will help to achieve the goals of the brand.
